LATEST DEVELOPMENTS IN NATIONAL COOLING STRATEGIES (NCS) AND NATIONAL COOLING PLANS (NCAP) IN THE MENA REGION AND TÜRKIYE
This paper explores the latest policy developments to advance sustainable cooling in the MENA re- gion and Türkiye as supported by the Cool Up programme which is funded by the German Inter- national Climate Initiative. The focus is put on the development of the National Cooling Strategies (NCS) and National Cooling Action Plans (NCAP) to address cooling needs in a holistic manner. Methodological aspects including data collection and analysis as well as stakeholder engagement are highlighted. Key aspects of modeling and re- sults are presented, supported by visual represen-
tations such as graphs, to illustrate different sce- narios of projected emissions. The analysis leads to the identification of different strategic interven- tion areas and relevant policy measures essential for promoting energy efficiency and uptake of the natural refrigerants. The NCAP policy measures also aim to support policymakers and stakehold- ers in strengthening the implementation; and cre- ating a framework for monitoring and evaluation of further actions taking place within the project- ed timeline. These plans play a critical role in en- suring sustainable cooling solutions in the region.
