THE INFLUENCE OF INTERNAL HEAT EXCHANGER ON THE EFFICIENCY OF THE REFRIGERATION PROCESS WITH PROPANE AS A REFRIGERANT

n this paper energy performance analysis of re- frigeration process with propane (R290) as a natural refrigerant is presented. The paper deter- mines the influence of internal heat exchanger on the system efficiency. Experimental rig is a compression refrigeration cycle consisting of scroll compressor, electronic expansion valve and helically coiled tube-in-tube condenser and evaporator. The cycle is equipped with auxiliary components, oil separator, receiv- er and internal heat exchanger that can be by-

passed in order to determine individual impact on the system. Experimental rig is also equipped with advanced monitoring and acquisition sys- tem which enables determination of main system parameters, energy flow and system efficiency. Energy efficiency ratio (EER) values are deter- mined at different condensing temperatures 30 °C, 35 °C, 40 °C and 45 °C, and different cooling capacity values in the range of 6 to 11 kW. The measuring results show a negligible impact of the internal heat exchanger on the system efficiency.
